Kimberley Fluellen - President

Kimberley Fluellen, is a seasoned mentor and tutor. Who assumed her role as the President of EVONA in 2022. She brings her background in Business Administration from Wayne State to EVONA. She is one of the program’s co-founders and is very passionate about reaching out and giving back to the community. Kim also functions as a community outreach coordinator.

Karen Destine

Karen Destine is a Member of Board of Directors of EVONA. She holds a Masters of Science in Health Service Administration and an MBA from Strayer University. She is a very strong advocate on education and the general welfare/improvements in the lives of others. EVONA is proud to utilize her valuable advocacy.

Christopher M. Williams

Chairman of the Board of Directors. Having earned a Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Wayne State University, Chris has worked for 16 years at General Motors, where he is now a senior level engineer. A GM Chairman Honoree, Chris is passionate about youth programs, and has served as a HOST Volunteer Leader, a Youth Ministry Leader, a Youth Baseball Coach, and a Boy Scouts of America Den Leader.

Tye Ukpong, Ph.D. - Executive Director, Enterprise Network Administrator

Tye is the Executive Director and Member of the Board. He received a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Missouri at Rolla and plays an active part in Community outreach. Tye actively participates in the EVONA Tutoring/Mentoring and Educational Adoption programs and is one of the coordinators of to know is to believe education campaign.
 

Rozenia Johnson

Vice President – Communications.
Rozenia is an artist, curator, arts educator and entrepreneur. Ms. Johnson received her Bachelors of Studio Art from Wayne State University. Her
background as an educator also involves working as a language and reading comprehension tutor with the former supplemental education services program, “No Child Left Behind” presented by Carter, Reddy and Associates. She recently brought her wealth of education experience to EVONA.

Leslie Monplaisir, Ph.D.

Member of the Board of Directors. Dr. Monplaisir is an Associate Professor at Wayne State University (WSU), also serving as Chair of the Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department and Director of the Engineering Management Master’s Program, as well as a leading researcher for the WSU Product Development and Systems Engineering Consortium.

Valicia Ward - Director of Operations

Born and raised in Detroit Michigan, Val Ward brings professional administrative support to the EVONA team. Val is a former Broker assistant and Office administrative manager. She is also a graduate of the Specs Howard School of Broadcasting Arts and was certified in Radio Broadcasting. Val uses her voice to motivate, encourage and inspire  change, through promoting the values of education. Val is affiliated with WROSES,INC; a non-profit organization that serves as a common resource hub for women from all walks of life. Val is currently studying to receive certifications within the Information Technology program at Focus: Hope.

Errick Wilson - Technology Manager

Errick was born in Detroit, MI. He has over 20 years experience in Audio & Video production. He utilizes his knowledge and discipline in the fundamentals of technology, to bring innovative and relatable ideas to the EVONA team.

Mrs. Akeisha Charleston - Account Executive

A proud wife and mother of two children,  Akeisha brings energy, passion, and commitment to Detroit area children. She has been a long standing member of Detroit Parent Network and serves in the parent resource center department.  Her most recent endeavor was at the American Red Cross where she earned a certificate in First aid and CPR/AED.
